Employment Education
& Attainment Outreach

People with steady employment are less likely to live in poverty and more likely to be healthy. Economic stability equals a healthy East New York.

In East New York and Starrett City, 30% of residents live in poverty, compared with 20% of NYC residents. East New York and Starrett City’s unemployment rate is higher than the citywide average of 9%. Rent burdened households pay more than 30% of their income for housing and may have difficulty affording food, clothing, transportation and health care.

Attaining and being educated on employment opportunities is a direct path to financial stability and part of the holistic health of families and the community. This is why Dreams Achieved seeks to provide those resources to the residents of East New York. As part of our multi-phased plan to address the issues that lead to a socio-economic gap, Dreams Achieved will provide employment education, résumé and interview workshops, and link participants with recruitment events.

Please look for more information on this focus in the near future.

Also, residents may visit Workforce1 Career Centers throughout the five boroughs for employment assistance to include job listings, recruitment events, job search resources, veterans’ services, résumé and interview workshops, and training.
